More phones have died in development than have probably ever been released, merely this unremarkably happens early in the process. They don't have names, final hardware configurations, and they're almost ever announced or manufactured. That's what happened with the Sony Xperia Z4v, though. Verizon and Sony announced this phone dorsum in June, and there was supposed to be a big marketing push button over the summer. However, that never happened, and at present Verizon has announced the phone is non coming out at all.

Sony doesn't have many inroads amid US carriers, only Verizon has thrown the OEM a bone on occasion. The Z4v was existence positioned as a gaming-centric telephone with a PlayStation 4 tie-in. Plainly that was a good plenty angle for Verizon to support the development of this custom device, which was distinct from the international Z4 (known as the Z3+ in some markets). Verizon may also have simply gotten cold feet considering it feared the Z4v wouldn't exist competitive in its lineup.

I'm not certain who was actually excited for this phone, though. Information technology didn't really offering anything distinctive at a time when selling premium smartphones is getting increasingly hard.This is definitely a blow for Sony in the The states. Verizon is the only carrier that has consistently offered its devices, with T-Mobile only dabbling every few generations. Verizon's very noncommittal statement nearly working with Sony in the future does not fill me with hope. Still, information technology's possible Big Red will decide to release some variant of the Xperia Z5 in the coming months. As long equally Sony doesn't announce the Z6 in the meantime, Verizon could probably sell that one.
